A.P.J.Abdul Kalam (1931-2015) :
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born on 18th October 1931 in Ramanathapuram,a small fishing hamlet in Tamil nadu.He was born to Jainulabdeen and Ashiamma who were very poor.so little kalam had to do odd jobs to support the family.But he never give up on his education.Graduated from St Joseph's college ,Trichinappalli in 1954 he joined Madras Institute of Technology to pursue Aerospace Engineering.After graduating from MIT he became the chief scientist at the Aerinautical Development Establishment of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).Then became the project Director of India's Indigenously built satellite launch vehicle in ISRO.He created a milestone when the indigenously built Rohini-1 was launched into space using the SLV rocket.He played a pivotal role in developing missiles like Agni and Prithvi.He also served as the chief scientific advisor to the Prime Minister and the secretary of DRDO.and also the chief project co-ordinator for Pokhran II nuclear tests.The Missile Man of India succeeded K.R.Narayanan to serve as the 11th president of India from 2002 to 2007.He was the proud recepient of Padma Bhushan(1981), Padma Vibhushan (1990) and Bharat Ratna (1997).He passed away on 27th july 2015 at Bethany Hospital,Shillong, due to a Heart attack after collapsed during a lecture at IIM Shillong.His famous books were "Wings of fire, Ignited minds,Turning points my journey and India 2020.
Javahar lal Nehru ( 14 November 1889 - 27 May 1964 )
Javahar lal Nehru was the promonent leader of nationalist movement in India and became the first prime minister of Independent India.Nehru was born on 14 november 1889 in Allahabad.His father Motilal Nehru and mother Swaruprani.Nehru did his education in England.first at Harrow school and then at Trinity college.At Cambridge he earned an honors degree in natural science.Nehru later studied law at Inner temple college in London.The Jalianwala Bagh massacre influenced his minds and he entered into Indian politics to join hands against the British rule.He joined the Indian National congress.In 1928 Nehru became the president of Indian National congress.Several times he jailed for his works.In 1947 India got freedom and Nehru became the first Prime Minister of India.
Nehru's birth day November 14 is celebrated in India as Children's day in recognition of his lifelong passion and work on behalf pf children and young people.
Charles spencer chaplin popularly known as Charlie chaplin,born on 16 April 1889 in Walworth in London.Chaplin was a comedy actro of the 20th century's silent era.His parents charles chaplin and Harriet pedlinghan were music hall performers.Charlie and his half brother sydney suffered from poverty and hardship in their childhood because of senior chaplin's death and subsequent illness of his mother.Chaplin is world famous for his screen persona ' the tramp' with the howler hat,moustache,cane and funny walk.He came to USA at the age of 21 and began performing for keystone studios.By 1918 he became world famous person.
He also worked,directed,produced,composed films mostly his own.His famous films were ' The kid ' The Gold rush,The circus,City lights,Moderns times and The Great dictator.He died on 25 December 1977 when he was 88 years of age.
Ada Lovelace. Augusta (1815-1852) was an english mathematician and writer .She worked with Charglse Babbage, the father of the computer for his analytical engine.Ada wrote notes for his engine,is considered to be the first algoritham.So she is regarded as the first computer programmer.
The computer language Ada created on behalf of United States Department of Defense was named after Lovelace.Ada Lovelace day is an annual event celebrated in mid October with a goal to raise the profile of women in science,technology,engineering and maths.and to create new role models for girls and women in these fields.
